The Youth Employment Agency has assured the immediate graduation of Community Police Assistants (CPA) recruits as per the memorandum of understanding between the agency, the Interior Ministry, and the Police Administration. The Community Police Assistant Personnel should be prioritized in the next recruitment window.
The recruitment criteria will be determined by the personnel’s performance, discipline and attendance on duty following the monthly validation exercise.
According to Kipo Habib, Director of Monitoring and Evaluation at YEA, incorporating them into the mainstream will help integrate the knowledge and experience gained to improve law enforcement within the police service.
He was speaking during a pass-out ceremony of 955 Community Police Assistants at the Police Training School at Kumasi to assist the police in their line of duty.
He also cautioned them against extorting money from individuals, which is against the rules of fulfilling their mandate.
The agency does not condone corrupt activities; however, any recruit personnel from YEA found culpable of any corruption-related issues will be dealt with.
So far, the government has recruited 12,000 Community Police Assistants (CPAs) to enhance law enforcement efforts and create youth employment through the Youth Employment Agency security module.
