Koo Ofori was granted bail in a $50,000 fraud allegation.
Veteran Ghanaian actor Samuel Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, widely known as Koo Ofori of “Efiewura” fame, has been granted bail by the Dansoman District Court.
The bail was set at GHC 320,000 with three sureties, following his arrest on allegations of defrauding a US-based Ghanaian of $50,000.
Koo Ofori was apprehended by the Accra Central Police Command after the complainant, residing in California, alleged that the actor failed to honour an investment agreement after receiving the substantial sum.
Police investigations revealed that Koo Ofori had not only defaulted on repayment but also ignored a prior summons to appear before the Dansoman District Court on April 17, 2025, leading to a bench warrant for his arrest.
His arrest on May 9, 2025, was captured in a video that circulated on social media.
Koo Ofori was subsequently held in police custody until his court appearance on Monday, May 12, 2025, where the bail was granted. The conditions of the bail include the provision of three credible sureties to guarantee his appearance in future court proceedings.
