Police have launched a manhunt for a driver accused of absconding with GH¢1.2 million entrusted to him for a business transaction in Kumasi.
The suspect, identified as Kwadwo Antwi, was reportedly employed by a private company and was assigned to deliver the cash to business partners.
According to the police, he vanished shortly after receiving the funds, and multiple efforts to trace him have so far proved unsuccessful.
A wanted notice, issued on Monday, April 28, and signed by the Head of the Public Affairs Unit, DSP Godwin Ahianyo, confirmed that a warrant has been issued by the Kumasi Circuit Court III for Antwi’s arrest.
He is facing a charge of stealing under section 124(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
Police say Antwi is about 5ft 8 in tall, dark in complexion, stout in build, and a native of Kukuom in the Ahafo Region.
He speaks Twi and English and is believed to be hiding in the Sehwi Asawinso area of the Western North Region.
The Ashanti Regional Police Intelligence Department has appealed to the public for help in locating the suspect. Anyone with information is urged to contact the nearest police station or call the following numbers: 0549276432, 0243123505, or 0244257963.
