A couple has been arrested by the Awutu Bereku District Police command for allegedly chaining their 9-year-old son in a bush for two days at Gomoa Nkwantanan in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

The suspects are Bismarck Odoi, 35 years old, the father, and 33-year-old Saviour, the mother.

Police source says the couple admitted the offence of chaining the 9-year-old boy and said their son is too stubborn and the only option is to chain him in the bush

The victim was rescued by a woman at Gomoa Nkwantanan who was searching for firewood in the bush.

In an interview with uniquenewsgh news, James Mensah, a resident of Gomoa Nkwantanan who brought the boy to the Awutu Bereku District Police Command, said they were in the chief palace when a woman brought the boy to the place with a chain and padlock on both legs.

James Mensah said that, upon interrogation, the woman said she was searching for firewood when she saw the boy chained to a tree, so she quickly sought assistance and removed the boy from the tree and put him on a motorbike to take him to the chief’s palace.

Meanwhile, the 9-year-old boy said his father questioned him about why he was late to school, so he threatened to deal with him and his junior brother.

The victim said that upon returning from school, his father took him into the bush and chained him.

The couple are in police custody for further investigation.
