OSP COMMENCES INVESTIGATIONS INTO ACTION OF CHARLES ADU BOAHEN AND OTHERS

The Office of the Special Prosecutor has commenced investigation into the action of former Minister of State at the Finance Ministry and any other implicated person contained in the recent investigative exposé,”Galamsey Economy”.

This investigation of the Minister of state came as the result of directive from the President Nana Akufo Addo with regards to the exposé by Anas Aremeyaw Anas which allegedly captured the minister in a video involving in corruption practices.

“By a letter dated 14th November,2022 and the secretary of the President ,upon the directions of the President ,referred  to the Office of the Special Prosecutor for further investigations allegations of corruptions levelled against Mr.Charles Adu Boahen, former Minister of State at the Ministry Finance contained in an investigative exposé published by Tiger P.I . and investigative journalist ,Anas Aremeyaw Anas,entitled”Galamsey Economy”.

A statement dated Monday, November 14, 2022, signed and issued by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin said the termination was with immediate effect.

It followed allegations levelled against Charles Adu Boahen in the exposé “Galamsey Economy”, by Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

After being made aware of the allegations leveled against the Minister in the exposé “Galamsey Economy”, the President spoke to Mr. Adu Boahen, after which he took the decision to terminate his appointment, and also to refer the matter to the Special Prosecutor for further investigations.

The President thanked Mr. Adu Boahen for his strong services to his government since his appointment in 2017, and wished him well in his future endeavors
