Ashanti Regional Minister-designate, Frank Amoakohene, has promised to leverage his active presence on social media platforms to promote good governance and engage with the people of the region.
During his vetting on Monday, January 27, 2025, the nominee was questioned about his digital presence and its influence if given the nod to serve as Minister.
In his response, Mr Amoakohene underscored the importance of leveraging his active presence on social media to foster development and encourage youth participation in the development of the region.
According to him, he sees the platform as a channel to interact with the youth of the region, as the model for community engagement has evolved with time.
“In times past, when I was young, my father would send me to the community centre, where they go to play, ‘Ludo’, ‘Dame’, among others. In recent times, those centres do not exist. There’s a new society known as social media, where we get the opportunity to share ideas and also to interact,” he said.
The ministerial nominee assured the committee that he would use his social media presence to promote the government’s agenda.
“I want to assure the house that I’m not going to overly rely on social media. However, the platforms will be available so that the youth who would want to reach me can still send a message, and there will be a team there who will look at the messages and draw my attention so that I will be able to assist them when need be,” he added.
He explained that his active participation on social media has given him the ability to properly comprehend and interact with the youth of the area.
