Mr. Atta Junior Kuffour, Chartered Analyst and Special Technology Advisor for the AfCFTA Policy Network is seeking to nurture innovation among students. He is launching a Digital Nanotechnology Platform to allow students to file patents for their final year projects. The platform is poised to drive advancements in research into lightweight materials, with wide-reaching benefits across industries such as pharmaceuticals, defense, and software development.

Many good research projects of students are gathering dust on the shelves of academic institutions but this nanotechnology offers transformative potential which could transform these researches into viable and impactful projects. In the herbal medicine field, it could enable targeted treatments for chronic diseases like cancer, delivering drugs directly to affected tissues.

For software engineers, nanotechnology promises to streamline applications, creating powerful programmes that require less memory, while increasing efficiency. Mr. Kuffour also envisions this technology playing a key role in Ghana’s nuclear energy projects, stabilizing the power grid and addressing challenges like load shedding.

Additionally, the platform aims to revolutionize Ghana’s gold refining process, potentially increasing production exponentially.

Universities will be at the forefront of research in 3D printing and electronics, with aspirations to produce the country’s first CPU chip, positioning Ghana as a leader in quantum computing in Africa.

Mr. Kuffour is also championing the industrialization of school campuses through the development of robust apprenticeship programmes.

This initiative is set to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical experience, preparing students for the challenges of the modern workforce.
