The management of Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) has announced that the new Terminal building at Prempeh I International Airport, Kumasi, will be operationalized starting Monday, July 1, 2024.
The management said there would be a comprehensive series of simulations, including subsystem simulations, followed by two full-scale integrated simulations of all the systems and processes from June 25 to June 30.
“Ghana Airports Company Limited has subsequently advised Africa World Airlines and Passion Air to inform passengers who are scheduled to travel on the selected dates to be mindful of this arrangement,” the statement said.
It added, “The features of the new Terminal building include the capacity to handle 800,000 passengers per year, process 200 passengers per hour, have two passenger boarding bridges, a Presidential lounge and three (3) other lounges; four (4) Boarding Gates; four (4) Self-Service Check-in Kiosks; nine (9) Check-in Desks; sixteen (16) Immigration booths; airline and Staff offices, large Commercial Retail area; a currency declaration office; a forex bureau; a visa-on-arrival facility; an automated car park; a multipurpose faith room, dedicated area for unaccompanied minors; modern baggage handling systems; and a medical facility, among others.”
GACL indicated it was committed to providing world-class airport facilities and services to position Ghana as the preferred aviation hub and leader in airports.
