On Sunday, April 14, 2024, between the hours of 01:00 and 03:00 AM, 4 armed and masked men stormed Esereso High Tension in the Bosome District of the Ashanti Region with live weapons to rob 3 different shops, take money, beverages, etc.
The robbery operation was captured by closed-circuit television (CCTV) of two different companies, and it cited 4 men with weapons, including live armour, suspected to be AK-47s.
Speaking to one of the victims, who operates a bar, the robbers broke into the bar and took away a cash of GHC 2,500, including a curtain of Hennesy, Balleys, and other beverages which cost about GHC 18,000.
According to the second victim, who sells alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages wholesale, the armed men packed away almost all of the expensive beverages from the shop, of which she can not calculate the amount. They also took away the CCTV server that saves the camera footage.
The third victim (provision store operator) said the armed robbers took away many bags of rice and other things. It indicates that the armed men were with a truck transporting the stolen items. Meanwhile, the CCTV couldn’t capture the scene.
A day before this incident, around 02:30 a.m., a thief who was captured by a CCTV broke the glass of a Tundra vehicle with reg no. CR-1-20 at Esereso, in front of the Great Luck Hotel, and took away a backpack that contained clothes, sandals, a laptop, and pen drives.
In an interview with Uniquenewsgh News, the residents said they are gripped in fears about the rampant armed robbery incidents in the locality, calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akufo Dampare and the Divisional Police Commander to tighten security at the area.
