A/R;Some Bereaved Families Contemplating Going The Muslim Way Of Burying Their Dead Due To Coffin and Caskets Hike

Prices of Coffin and Caskets in the Ashanti region has been increased due to economic hardship in the country.

According to some casket sellers and Manufacturer who spoke to uniqunewsgh.com reporter Antwi Boasiako ,the prices of materials used for the casket has been increased and they have no option than to increase their prices.

“Currently,the Caskets which were sold at Ghc1500 is now sold at 2500 while other ones which were sold at 2500 are now 4000″.

According master Ato who is a CEO for God’s way Casket Shop a popular casket seller in Kumasi,the foreign casket which was priced at GHC14000 is now 17,500 which includes, Devotion, Lincoln,bumba sprimier National theatre and Lord Super.

He stressed that,”due to the economic hardship we no longer accept any part payment for these caskets because the prices of the material keep changing and we don’t want to run a loss”

They are therefore calling on government to as a matter of urgency implement measures that will bring relief to their business.

However,uniquenewsgh.com had an interview with a bereaved family head,he says the price is too much because he recently bought one at Ghc1200 but now is been increased to GHC 3000.

He said,”i will discuss with his family to adopt the Muslim method, at least used a metal coffin to bury any family member who dies including himself due to this increase of prices of casket and coffin in the country”.
