Parliament has announced that President Akufo-Addo will present the 2024 State of the Nation Address (SONA) to the House on February 27, 2024.
This is contained in a press release signed by the Deputy Clerk to Parliament, Camillo Pwamang, dated February 12.
“The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will present a message on the state of the nation to Parliament under Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution on Tuesday, February 27, 2024,” the release said.
The State of the Nation is an annual address to Parliament given by the President of the Republic of Ghana covering the economic, social, and financial state of the country.
Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution states that “The President shall, at the beginning of each session of Parliament and before a dissolution of Parliament, deliver to Parliament a message on the state of the nation.”
This will thus be the last but one SONA to be delivered by President Akufo-Addo before leaving office at midnight on January 6, 2025.
