The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has issued a November 4 ultimatum to government to revoke the appointment of the new Director-General of Ghana Education Service, Dr Eric Nkansah, or face their wrath.
Speaking after a national council meeting, General Secretary of Association Thomas Tanko Musah, said the position of the D-G of GES is a preserve of educationists.
The teacher union has also kicked against the extension of contract for the Deputy Director-General of GES, Anthony Boateng.
The group has also given up to December 9 to either provide the laptops for teachers or refund their money for them.
We will recalled that after the appointment of the new Director General of Ghana Education Service Dr.Eric Nkansah to succeed Prof Kwasi Opoku Amankwa who was relieved from his post has had turned into public discus among the teacher unions for his acceptances into office.
Almost all the teacher unions including GNAT,NAGRAT,CCT AND TEWU have threatened to withdraw their services if the government refused revoke the appointment of current Director General.
But with all the grievances from the unions ,some concern teacher’s union has also supported the government appointment.
The minister of Education Hon. Dr.Yaw Adutwum has had justified the competency of the Director General so far as the education sector is concern.
