Parents have been encouraged to enroll their kids in the various public basic schools for quality education.
According to KMA Major Hon. Samuel Pyne, public basic schools are the backbone of quality education in Ghana and also use modern methods of learning.
He disclosed this to Akoma news at the maiden Subin sub metro Inter-school quiz competition held at the Prempeh Assembly hall.
Ten(10) schools participated within the Subin submetro but four(4) schools were able to reach the finals.
T.I Ahamadiya JHS B emerged the 1st with 77 points, Station Basic School placed 2nd position with 72 points, Amakom Adventist JHS also occupied the 3rd position with 64 points and St.Peter’s JHS was 4th with 59 points.
Mr Samuel Pyne reiterated that Ghanaians should have a taste and hope in the public educational sector because the government is ready to provide infrastructure to strengthen and support the sector.
“Parents should stop enrolling their wards in International schools because public schools are doing better and far better than private schools in the country”.
He said the purpose of the quiz is to motivate and build the pupil’s capacity towards the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) within the Kumasi Metro.
He added, the quiz will be extended to the rest of the various sub-metro schools in the Metro.
“We want the various public schools within the Kumasi Metro to perform better in subsequent BECEs”.
Mr. Adams Mohammed Headteacher of the school that emerged 1st in the quiz competition T.I Ahamadiya says they anticipated their victory due to their effective preparedness.
They had Ghs 3,000 and some souvenirs for emerging as the winner.
