Akyem Abuakwa Council Of Zongo Chiefs Establish Education Fund To Support Brilliant But Needy Students

The Akyem Abuakwa Council Of Zongo Chiefs has launched an educational project that will provide scholarships to support brilliant but needy students in Zongo areas Abuakwa enclaves.

The Educational Fund would also be used to establish social amenities, and Islamic Schools and provide business support to both Muslim and Christian entrepreneurs.

The president of Akyem Abuakwa Council Of Zongo Chiefs, Alhaji Abubakar Umar said this in a sideline interview with uniquenewsgh news at Kyebi during the Council Of Chiefs’s 3rd quarter meeting over the weekend.

He noted further that as part of the Council’s broader vision to widen education opportunities for Muslims, the Educational Fund has prioritized investment in education for all.

Alhaji Abubakar Umar who doubles as the national vice and Eastern regional president of the Council of Zongo Chiefs expressed concern about the poor standard of education among Muslim youth in Akyem Abuakwa.

He observed that school dropout rates were high and attributed it partly to a lack of financial support.

Meanwhile, qualified applicants would be required to fill out a form requesting scholarship assistance for approval from the board.

He said the creation of the funds would supplement the government’s efforts in providing Free Education and the provision of structures to accommodate the growing numbers of school-going children in Zongo areas.

Alhaji Umar entreated Muslim parents and guardians to enroll their children and wards in school, provide for their needs, and ensure they progressed to higher educational institutions as education was the bedrock of economic development of every nation.

Alhaji Umar also urged Muslim parents, students, and proprietors of conventional and Islamic schools to strike a balance between Western and religious education.

He insisted that parents must enroll their children in Islamic schools where they would be tutored in Islamic principles.

According to him, Islamic schools played a greater role in reshaping the nation through the better upbringing of youths for the betterment of society.

Alhaji Umar has therefore encouraged the youth in Muslim communities to prioritize education in their lives as he believes, education is what will liberate and empower them for the future.

To achieve this, the Akyem Abuakwa Council Of Zongo Chief’s president has called on the government to support Islamic academies to promote moral behavior in youths.
