The Medical Superintendent of Suntreso Government Hospital in Kumasi Dr Thomas Agyarko has revealed that the outbreak of the novel coronavirus popularly known as Covid 19 exposed the lapses and unpreparedness of most health facilities in Ghana both private and government for emergency situations.
According to him, there were deficits in terms of financial resources, infrastructure, medical equipment, human resource, and testing facilities.
He said the outbreak of the pandemic has allowed the government and caretakers of the various health facilities to be more proactive in putting up required facilities that can withstand any future occurrence.
He made this statement to uniquenewsgh news on the sidelines of the West African College of Physicians Ghana Chapter had its 46th Annual General and Scientific Meeting in Kumasi
He called on the government to set up an emergency fund to support the various health facilities whenever there is any pandemic.

The former CEO of Ghana Mental Health Authority and current Chairman of the faculty of Psychiatric at the college Prof.Akwasi Osei also says the covid 19 pandemic has had a significant impact on mental health care in Ghana.
He appealed to the government to introduce a health levy to support mental health treatment.
