Convert the National Cathedral project into National Hospital, Organized Labour charged Gov’t

The Ashanti regional Chapter of Trader Union Congress has charged the ruling government to convert the national cathedral into a national hospital because it is a misplaced priority.

Mr Augustine Adongo Ampambila speaking at the 2023 May celebration at Kumasi, reiterated the current economic crisis is not the result of Covid and the Russia and Ukraine wars but a result of mismanagement of the current economy and neo-liberal free market ideology.

He said the government seeking for IMF bailout will not solve the current economic crisis.

He said before the government can have a solution to the crisis unless the government cut down the size of its machinery, convert the national cathedral into a national hospital, and stop the regressive taxes imposed on workers and politicians should stop interfering with the GRA revenue mobilization exercise.

This year’s theme is “Protecting Incomes and Pensions in an Era of economic crisis; Our Responsibilities”.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti regional Minister Hon. Osei Mensah says the government has instituted a mechanism to mitigate the current economic crisis by introducing a Gold for Oil policy and also employing many youth into the mainstream.
