The National Communications Authority has announced that it will deactivate about 11 million sim numbers that are not registered onto the central sim register through the Ghana card.
The NCA also says it will end the Mass registration of SIM at the same time. Therefore effective 1st June 2023, the NCA says only new SIM cards will be registered.
Currently, a total of 36 million SIM cards are actively in use. Only 25 million out of them are linked to the Central Sim Register.
Speaking at a press briefing earlier today Director-General of the National Communications Authority, Joe Anokye explained there will be some exemptions.
