ASSIN SOUTH PREGNANT TEENAGER’S MURDER: MP CALLS ON RESIDENTS TO ASSIST POLICE WITH INFORMATION

The Member of Parliament for Assin South District, who doubles as the Deputy Minister of Education, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has called on the residents of the district to assist the police in combating crime in the area.

According to him, the detection and prevention of crime is a shared responsibility between the police and the public; therefore, they should cooperate with the security officers and support them to function well to ensure a peaceful society.

He made the call when he, along with the members of the Assin South District Security Council (DISEC), visited and commiserated with the family of a pregnant teenager who was gruesomely murdered.

The deceased, 15-year-old Priscilla Botwey, locally known as Attaa Kakra, who was five months pregnant, was found dead with her head chopped off by unknown assailants at Nsene in the Assin South District after going missing for four days.

Speaking at a gathering, the member of parliament said, “Your reluctance and unwillingness to furnish the police with vital information that could lead to the arrest of perpetrators of crime does not only strengthen criminal activities but also put the lives of the whole society in danger, so help the police find those behind such heinous crimes.”

The Odikro of Assin Nsene, Nana Adjei Okopa, pleaded with the police to ensure perpetrators are arrested and brought to book and also intensify security in the area as residents are gripped with fears since the murder of the teenager.

While the Assin South District Police Commander, ASP Robert Kyeremeh assured the public of their unwavering commitment to safeguarding them.
He reiterated the necessity of volunteering information to the police on the activities of criminals as that is critical to fighting crime.
