A/R:Ghana National Fire Service Avert Gas Explosion At Sokoban Ampayo

Ghana National Fire Service has averted a possible gas explosion at Sokoban Ampayo in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region.

The fire was caused by gas tanker when it caught fire on its way from Sokoban Ampayo to Kumasi .

Report say, the driver of the tanker carrying about 55,500 litres of gas failed to negotiate a sharp curve and one of his tyres got burst and plunged the tanker into a ditch.

Both the driver and his mate remain unhurt and currently doing well.

The Fire started spreading quickly but the timely arrival of fire tenders from Ghana National Fire Service saved the situation after tirelessly dousing the fire and preventing it from spreading to mechanic shops, houses and other businesses around.

The explosion would have been disastrous as where the incident occurred is close to houses and mechanic shops.

The fire service timely intervention prevented situation where lives and properties would have been lost.

The Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, DO3 Peter Addai, said they have able to come down the situation.
