Young man name given as kofi Kakra has died instantly after deliberately climbing a GRIDCO main line at Galilea, a suburb of Ngleshie Amanfro in the Ga South Municipality of Greater Accra region.
Nearby residents say even though they tried to entice the deceased with money to descend from the main line, he refused and subsequently died after touching a high tensile cable.
They say, he began climbing the pylon and threatening to kill himself drawing the attention of several residents to the area who tried vehemently to restrain him but was unsuccessful.
The police who visited the scene also tried to entice him with money to descend from the pylon but the deceased would not heed.
He rather climbed further and touched one of the high tensile wires of the 161000 voltage pylon and got himself electrocuted and died instantly.
Some eyewitnesses speaking to uniquenewsgh.com reporter Nana Yaw Asare,”he is a driver’s mate from this area ,we saw him climbing the pylon but with all persuasions from us to bring him down from the pylon which proven futile”.
