Herdsmen in Drobonso given five days ultimatum to leave the district

The Sekyere Afram plains district DISEC has given recalcitrant Fulani herdsmen in the district the final opportunity to leave within 5 days or face full-scale forcible eviction by security agency.

The district chief executive for Sekyere Afram plains,Hon Suleman Hamidu when speaking to Newsmen during the stakeholders meeting held at Hamidu said that, the DISEC has set up strong security taskforce led by DSP Isaac Otsin, Kumawu district police commander to take immediate decisive and efficient action to flush out all nomads from the district and the only exception being cattle that have been properly confined in a permitted areas.

He said, the ultimatum comes amidst rising tension and outrage over lawlessness of herdsmen who are said to have imposed a virtual reign of terror, brutalizing, robbing, maiming and killing people, wrecking farms and water bodies.

The district director of agriculture, Mr Kwabena Nsiah in his part made passionate appealed to key stakeholders in the district to help put lasting solution to the rising tension always ensue between the crop farmers and cattle owners to ensure food security in the country.

Okyeame Owusu Bempah Kodua who represented Kumawu paramount chief at the committee assured the farmers and the DISEC to support their activities to ensure peaceful environment
