Renowned actress and producer Yvonne Nelson has expressed her displeasure over the current ‘dumsor’ situation in the country.

Her recent reaction to the erratic power cut follows the viral video from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Tema General Hospital, which experienced ‘dumsor’ on Tuesday night.

Moments after the light went out, a viral video was shared where a nurse lamented the situation, detailing how the electrical power cut posed a threat to the lives of babies who were in incubators at the hospital.

Reacting to the video, Yvonne Nelson slammed the government, describing the leaders of the country as “wicked.”.

She wrote on X, saying, “I don’t even know what to type. Our leaders are wicked. @NAkufoAddo How do you sleep at night? 8 years of lies.”

Rapper Sarkodie also reacted to the situation, blaming it on misplaced priorities on the path of government.

“The impact when we misplace priorities. We pray for these innocent babies,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, the power outage is said to have caused the death of a newlyborn baby.

Ramatu, the 24-year-old mother of the deceased baby, said in an interview with uniquenewsgh that doctors told her she lost her baby due to the power cut.

“I was supposed to go and visit my baby around 4 am this morning [Wednesday], so when I went there, I could not find my baby, and the doctor told me to wait outside, so I was outside, and he said that they were sorry because I had lost my child due to the light out last night [Tuesday night],” she told TV3’s Joseph Armstrong Gold Alorgbey.

But the hospital, in a statement, denied any death situation. A statement signed by its medical director, Dr. Richard Anthony, said: “No lives were lost as a result of this power outage.”
