66th Independence day: Account to Ghanaians on money spent

The Ashanti regional National Democratic Congress (NDC) called on the President Akufo Addo to render an account to Ghanaians on money spent during 66th Independence day celebration held at Ho in the Volta region.

Speaking to Mr. Torbert Atoyah the communication officer of Nhyiaso constituency, he says it misplaced priority for the government to spend a hooping amount of money on 6th March celebrations, at a time when the majority are battling with their lives under this current economic crisis.

He said before Ghanaians can count their blessings and work together as stated by the President , every penny spent during the 66th Independence day celebrations must be accounted for, to boost Ghanaians confidence in this current government administration.

He made this statement to Akoma News when the Nhyiaso constituency commemorate Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah on the 66th Independence day celebration.

Background

Independence Day is an official state holiday observed in Ghana and the Ghanaian Diaspora on March 6.

Ghana was the first sub-Saharan African country to attain independence from British colonial rule.

Independence Day serves as a time to reaffirm national unity, as well as national sovereignty.
