A 53-year-old woman, Georgina Acquah is believed to have committed suicide in a bizarre circumstance at Nyankumase Ahenkro in the Assin South District of the Central Region.
The deceased was found dead on a cocoa farm near her house around 4:45 am, today, 27th July 2023, with about one and a half yards of clothes strangling her neck while hanging on a cocoa tree.
The deceased’s son Emmanuel Acquah upon seeing her mother hanging on a cocoa tree informed neighbours of the house about the incident and subsequently reported to the police at Nyankukasi Ahenkuro.
Police upon receiving the information rushed to the crime scene and indeed found the deceased lying in a supine position under the cocoa tree.
No traces of marks of violence were found on the body, however, she was conveyed to the Abura Dunkwa Government Hospital where she was clinically pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, the body has been kept at the same hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
